Regulations for the au pair in IrelandThe au pair can stay in Ireland from 6 to 24 months, or 3 months for summer programs. The responsibilities of au pairs in Ireland may include up to 35 hours a week working time including childcare and babysitting in the evenings. Based upon 12 months stay, the au pair in Ireland receives a minimum of 2 weeks holiday. If the au pair stays in Ireland less than 12 months with an individual host family, this period is to be determined pro rata. The duration of vacations for the au pair in Irelandis to be discussed and agreed with the host family in advance. The au pair in Ireland is expected to help the family with light household duties and routines, act and integrate as a family member, take part in family activities, and share his/her own culture with the host family and visa versa. The au pair in Ireland receives full room and board from the family throughout the duration of the placement. In Ireland the au pair is entitled to their own heated and furnished room with a window, which they are to keep clean and tidy. The pocket money minimum for the au pair in Ireland is set at EUR 100 per week.
